I was disappointed to see my candidate for mayor defeated on Tuesday. In his defense, I think 42% of the electorate voting for change is an impressive first showing. I like and still support Jeff. His issues remain huge opportunities for the Village. I will partner with any on Council who are willing to work on them.
I have been asked to step down due to my support for Jeff's failed run. I disagree with the thought and will honor my commitment to the Village.
Finally, congratulations goes to Dan for running an effective campaign. I will continue to find common ground and work with the Mayor for the good of the Village.

Who asked you to step down and for what reason?
ReplyDeleteHi Cortney here. A resident told me stepping down is the only honorable choice. I think the logic is flawed - would require 42% of the voters to move from the Village....
ReplyDeleteI signed up for 4 years, so 4 years it will be (minimum).
We live in a democracy. Sounds like some people think at need to change to a racist or communist state where everyone had to tow the party line. Glad you are staying on.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a FACIST state, not racist. Sorry-too angry to type well.
ReplyDeleteThat would be fascist Bob, but point well made. Was it unethical to support a different canidate? Did it violate any of oh laws? Did Mr. Scheeser promote violence? Did he spread filth about others?
ReplyDeleteIf not, then he has every right to be a representative on council as anyone. When did we as a society start thinking its wrong to have different opinions?
Hopefully the mayor wants to find common ground also. It makes it difficult if only one side is willing to work at it.
ReplyDeleteAs for suggesting you step down, did you misunderstand? It's such an odd thing to consider, maybe was it a joke?
I too was disappointed that Mr. Andrews did not win. I think a new perspective is needed. While Mayor Policastro has done a good job, change is not always bad.
ReplyDeleteAs for you stepping down, sounds like there are people who are just sour grapes. Glad to see you aren't going to be leaving.
Only in Mariemont...so glad you didn't acquiesce and will continue to work so diligently for the good of Mariemont and ALL her citizens.
ReplyDeleteHi Tina, Cortney here. Unfortunately I don't think it was a joke: "...appropriate to get up and leave the table. I doubt that you will consider the option of resigning..."
ReplyDeleteI'm coming to believe there is a poisonous, erroneous narrative being spun by some, and it's easy for folks to get influenced by it.
Enough about the election - Onward! :)
Jenny -really? Only in Mariemont? Haven't lived anywhere else or dealt with people hefore? The whole situation is so "normal" it's rather boring.
